Annoying Playing Partners
We’ve all been there. You grind out a long stressful week at work. You patiently deal with all of the ups and downs of your personal life. You even gracefully tolerate the occasional run in with that dude on the sidewalk that’s having a bad day and wants to take it out on the world. Why? You might ask. It’s because you know the weekend is coming. And so is your tee time! Your tee time is coming and nothing is going to ruin this oasis of greenery and adult beverages! Or will it??
Is there anything worse than being paired up with someone annoying on the golf course for 4-5 hours? I mean, there are a host of quirks that irritate us all in different ways. It could range from constant talking and moving on the green while you’re putting, wanting to play loud music, constantly getting upset for bad shots, and my personal pet peeve: SLOW PLAY! These are only a handful of things one can bring to the course that could have a negative impact on you and your foursome’s round. But, the questions I have to you all is; How do you handle it?
Are you the forward type that nips it in the bud early in the round? Do you keep quiet and just deal with it? Do you bait someone else in the group to say something? Or do you bail at the turn and head to the bar? Are these players aware of their behavior, and how it is impacting the group? Is it really impacting the group or just me? All of these things can be just the distraction that can turn your highly anticipated round of golf into a “the hell with it, let’s drink” round.
What’s your feedback? Very interested in hearing how you guys react?
